Time Attack 2007

Round up from 2007 Time Attack

Time Attack 2007 Round 1 Donnington Park :

2007 was the first year in Time Attack for drivers Lee Broadhurst and Steve Thorpe. Equally it was the first time NR where to be supporting customers cars in this well known racing event.

It was decided to take the year steadily or even somewhat cautiously. This proved to be the best course of action, as the steep learning curve for both drivers and tuner would make any Time Attack Track look like a drag strip.

For Lee this was the first round with a new car, unfortunately in the 5th practice lap an oil breather problem was discovered so the car was withdrawn to prevent damage.

Steve – Update still to follow

So on to round 2!

Time Attack 2007 Round 2 Silverstone:

After the disappointment of withdrawing from round 1 for Lee he was looking forward to driving the car for the first time in dry conditions, thanks to our dependable British weather! However the car was unstable on high-speed corners but Lee still finished 13th overall. Nick worked on a new suspension set-up for round 3.

Steve - Update still to follow

So maybe better luck 3rd time around

Time Attack 2007 Round 3 Knockhill:

Lee arrived at Knockhill with high hopes of getting to grips with the car. He did a test run the day before and was pleased that the car was very easy to drive and quick! On race day he was straight under the 1 min barrier and in touch with the other drivers. On the final run a bigend failure brought the day to a close for Lee.

Steve Update still to follow

So 3rd time around was not so lucky for Lee, but ever optimistic and lessons learnt driver and tuner withdrew to the drawing board.

Time Attack 2007 Round 4 Brands Hatch:

After round three Lee spoke with Nick about taking the car to the next level for the 2008 season. The plan was to get a lighter and faster track tuned car that would be guaranteed to get better results. So it was decided that Lee would not attend this round and the car was to be stripped and months of work commenced.

Steve – Up date still to follow

Time Attack 2007 Conclusion:

The end of the 2007 season a roller coaster of highs, lows and a few twists and turns. Most importantly, ideas had been formed, lessons learnt and an enthusiasm to put this into practice for the 2008 season.

The work on Lee’s and Steve’s cars had commenced and what would the out come be? Would it be worth it? Only time will tell.
